The above is the link to my presentation on human trafficking.
Human Trafficking is a crime against human nature. It is the recruiting, transporting, harbouring, transferring and receiving of a person. All sorts of people are trafficked daily - you and I could even be victims of this. Eventhough all types of people can be sold and bought, women and children make up the majority. People can be trafficked for several reasons such as slavery, forced labour, for the removal and sale of their organs, or prostitution - being the main one.
The people who do the recruiting, shockingly enough, were shown to be mostly women or former victims of trafficking themselves. The countries that receive the most trafficking victims happened to all be in Asia, and in some countries, such as Brazil, human trafficking is even the main cause of their huge economic growth.
The UN started taking actions against human trafficking in 2003 by setting up The Protocol to Prevent, Supress and Punish the Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children. This from then on has been signed and agreed to by many countries.
