Employment
To be employed means to have a job to earn a living. We all attend schools at an early age in order to be able to later on, live by ourselves. The first step when living alone is to get a job or become employed. Employment allow people to earn money to buy food, shelter, clothing etc. However there are people who do not have a job or unemployed. This means that they cannot earn any income except for the unemployment benefits they receive from the government. Recently, the unemployment rate has increased due to a more advanced technology that requires less labour.

Are unemployment benefits a right or a privilege? Why?
ReplyDeleteUnemployment benefits may be both a right or a privilege depending on the kind of person. It is a privilege when the person has worked hard but unfortunately been made redundant. However it is a right when the person is desperate for their living but cannot work again due to lack of knowledge or lack of the will to work.
DeleteIf you lack the will to work isn't that then a kind of abuse of the right? Unemployment benefits are for those who can't work not those who dent want to work, aren't they?
DeleteUnemployment benefits are for those who still have the will to work or are looking for one. However the government cannot keep an eye on all the people and check whether they are willing to. This is also a reason why the unemployment rates affect the economy a lot.
DeleteDo you think that advances in technology is good for the country? Comment on economically and unemployment perspective.
ReplyDeleteAdvances in technology is very helpful for the country. It increases productivity of work such as in factories or services in banks, transport etc. However, the people who have become redundant will be against or will disagree since they have lost their jobs due to more skilled technology.
Deletetechnology is always going to advance, so what is the solution?
DeleteThere aren't a lot of solutions to this. Technology continues to advance forever. We cannot stop it because there are many countries and people relying to these for their living or income. The only possibility might be to create jobs or useful technology that require less skilled employees.
